Dear Actors
If you feel you must send me your cv, it should come by post
not email - I don't want to spend my time and paper printing out speculative
cvs.
You do not need to send a 10 x 8, I know how expensive they are. A smaller photo
printed on the cv or on a bit of paper is helpful, as is a weblink.
Look carefully though: if my production is a co-production,
then the theatre company or director will be casting, not me (eg Theatre Royal
York). Casting will come out by CastWeb or Spotlight when the time comes, so
sending random cvs to Fresh Glory isn't necessarily a good idea.
Invitations to shows are nice, though I or my director will only come if we
think it's relevant to something we're doing soon.
One further piece of general advice: please never sub yourself for anything
where you do not match the criteria. I received 600 subs for 6 actor-musicians,
HALF of which were from actors who did not play an instrument. This is just
annoying. Read the job spec really carefully (height, age, skills, experience),
and restrain yourself if you honestly don't fit the bill.
Very best wishes to all of you - I know how hard it is.
